Waking Up To Sobriety

There are (in my mind), two ways to take this title.  One is that, you may wake up in the morning feeling sober, and the second would be Waking up to Sobriety, meaning, you have finally seen the light of day.

Possibly drinking or using drugs for the better part of your life or for that matter just abusing the drugs and alcohol for a short period of time.  Either way, eventually this abuse will sooner or later lead to an addiction.

There comes a time in ones life when you do wake up and you see a new and bright future in store for you only if you want it bad enough.

An addiction of any sort is an addiction, just different kinds and levels of it.

Sobriety on the other hand is one sobriety.  It stands alone from all the rest, no levels of any sort, just a Clean Life, and a Sober Life like no other.

People long for sobriety but just don’t know how to go about achieving it.  They are so hooked on the drug of choice that they can not figure a way out. Some,  may be embarrassed to ask for help so they hide their addiction from others.  They keep their feelings bottled up inside and letting their demons control their lives.

Remember when we were young children, how we all felt every morning, every day, month and year that passed?  We were all sober and feeling like we were on top of the world.

We felt fresh and clean and looked forward to each and everyday with happiness and love but, somewhere down the line for some of us we headed down the wrong path leading us to a destructive life.

It’s not something we set out to do to ourselves but when those addicted demons take hold of you it’s pretty hard to escape from them, UNLESS you have the willpower, the courage and the strength to conquer them.

This is were some of us lack this power of strength to control our urges from the substance that may kill us in the end.

The best thing I can think of is to be honest with yourself and ask someone for help.  Your family can be such a huge help to us if we admit that we do have an addiction and we are willing to surrender to our demons and addiction.

When you finally admit to your problem and get out of the denial that you are in is when you will then find sobriety and happiness start to come back into your lives.  You need to say that you want to quit drinking alcohol and start a new life.

Having and keeping a Positive Attitude through all of this is what we need to do in order to succeed on our journey to recovery.
