Traits of the Metzger Pineapple Diet

The Metzger Pineapple Diet is a popular fad diet that has been used by thousands of people in order to drop weight.  This is intended a short term solution, and not a long term meal plan as it does not have the necessary variety in order to provide all the vitamins and nutrients that are expected from a long term diet.  This is also a reason that many people suggest that dieters who are using this plan as a way to break through a plateau or lose some weight quick, should also take a multi-vitamin supplement to help make up for the vitamins that are not covered from a diet that consists mostly of pineapple and tuna.  For this reason, it is sometimes also referred to as the pineapple and tuna diet.

There are several distinct characteristics to the pineapple diet.  One is the very strict and limiting diet.  One version of the pineapple diet is set for seven days, with two of the days all pineapple and water.  Every day has two snacks and three small meals, and the snacks should always be pineapple.  In addition, pineapple should be a side at every meal, most of which it’s strongly encouraged to have tuna.  The idea is that this diet is low in calories, low in bad carbs, and high in protein with pineapple, which attacks fat on multiple levels.  In addition, many believe pineapple has an enzyme which helps the fat burning process in the body.

There is some controversy over this diet, and many people prefer a more moderate pineapple diet plan, one that involves salads at meals, no “pure pineapple” days (even having just tuna and pineapple on those days), and maybe sneaking in a diet soda in place of water on one day to help the sweet tooth.

There are many versions of this diet floating around online, but the most important trait to remember from any of these plans is that the diet is a short term fad and not a permanent long term solution.
