The Most Effective Hemorrhoid Treatments

Common hemorrhoid symptoms include visible swelling, itching or pain.  In some cases, hemorrhoids may bleed. Before beginning any hemroid treatment option it’s important to get a doctor’s exam to rule out any other medical conditions. However, if your hemorrhoids are visible and are causing you irritation, consider one of the following treatment options.

hcOne of the most popular courses of hemroid treatment includes the topical application of a cream.  Most of these creams are available in over the counter forms and are largely designed to alleviate the symptoms.  Choose a cream that is targeted to help those symptoms that you find the most difficult to live with.  Do be advised that creams designed to take care of only itching or pain may not speed the healing process.  If you are hoping to get rid of a hemorrhoid more quickly, find a cream that contains an active ingredient that acts as an anti-inflammatory.

There are a number of hemorrhoid treatments that may be prescribed by a doctor for those with a more persistent problem.  While surgery is available, this is only pursued in the most serious of cases.  For external hemorrhoids, a doctor’s first course of action may involve nothing more than trying to reinsert it manually into the body.  Even this small change will cut down on the amount of pressure and pain associated with the hemorrhoid.  Another common, but slightly more complicated, procedure involves tying off the hemorrhoid to stem the flow of blood to it.  As they as merely swollen, protruding veins, removing the blood flow will cause them to die, thereby alleviating the symptoms.

Remember that while there is much that can be for the treatment of hemorrhoids at home, those who notice bleeding or more persistent problems should always consult a doctor. In a lot of cases, just improving your diet by adding bulk fiber to your meals can reduce straining during bowel movements and this small step alone can eliminate flare ups and reduce symptoms.
