We all enjoy lighting up the summer evenings with our solar lamps or patio string lights, but it doesn’t have to be the summer for these extra lit-up hours outside. Here are a few ideas for patio string lights during other seasons too:

Spring:
Say goodbye to the dark nights by having a last-night-of-winter party or picnic in your garden the night before the clocks go forward. It’s a great time to pop the outside lights on and look at what plants are starting to wake up to the spring, or to spend time in your garden with friends to make plans for the summer out there! Be the first one to start the evening barbecue season!

Autumn:
They are obvious celebrations for the Autumn, so you could use a well-lit garden as an alternative party location for Guy Fawkes’ night and Halloween. String up Jack’O’ Lantern type lights or orange patio string lights, add barbecue food and a bonfire (taking obvious safety precautions) and move your party outside, where there are more spooky dark corners and where you can watch all the neighborhood fireworks for added entertainment!

Winter:
During the winter working week, we can be forgiven for thinking that we never get outside or in the fresh air until the weekend. However, weather permitting, making a cozy area to sit outside nursing a hot chocolate or mulled wine, twinkling patio lights against the winter dusk can be an ideal way to unwind at the end of the working day. If it’s just too cold, stick the lights on anyway and watch the glow from the comfort of your fireside.

Lastly, remember that a string of patio lights can also be moved from the back of the house to the front and strung around the porch to greet yuletide visitors or carol singers, without having the extra expense of buying Christmas lights. So use some of these ideas to help you get the most from your outside light sources all year round!
