Fixing a Blender that Leaks
If you were to take a peek inside the kitchen of nearly every home in the western world, you would see a blender on the countertop at least 90% of the time. This little appliance is such a great asset to any kitchen, and the best part about them is that they cost so little. While the fact that they are so inexpensive is wonderful, it also means that they break down once in a while. While many people don’t even think twice and toss the appliance straight into the trash can, the truth is that many repairs are really easy to do on your own, with the exception of a burned out motor.
The most common problem that blenders have is liquid seeping from the base area. You take out your trusty Hamilton Beach blender to make a smoothie in the morning, and purple stuff starts dripping out of the bottom of it. What can you do about this? Before you go searching for Hamilton Beach blender parts online, find out what the problem is. First, you need to unscrew the base from the jar (make sure you pour out what is in there first!). Next, remove the blade assembly from the jar. There should be a little piece of rubber in there that is called a gasket. This gasket is supposed to fit right between the metal blade and the plastic or glass jar, which when screwed on tight, prevents it from leaking. In many cases, the issue is that someone forgot to replace the little gasket when they washed it. If this happened, look for it in the dish drainer or around the sink, put it back, and see if this solves the problem. If your gasket if really missing or if it is worn out and broken, you should be happy to know that there are many cheap blender parts that can be purchased online. Just do a quick search for the brand of your blender and you should be able to find what you are looking for without too much trouble.
