Contact Dermatitis: The Top Causes

The appearance of contact dermatitis is due to the allergic reaction of your skin to certain substances that comes into contact with your body or it can also be something that you have ingested or eaten. This will then produce flaky and itchy skin that if scratched, will lead to broken and in some cases, swelling and bleeding skin.

It can be a bit difficult to find yourself the ultimate contact dermatitis cure simply because the potential allergens and irritants are always present. However, if you have the right knowledge of its common causes, then you will know what you can do in order to prevent or even possibly get rid of it. Here is a short list of the main causes of eczema.

1.) Frequently Touching Your Face – Your hands are constantly in contact with many things and it can be a host of many types of irritants like germs and dirt. If you are prone to touching your face, you are likely to transfer the germs and bacteria from your hands to the skin of your face and it can lead to possible breakouts. This is one of the most common causes of eczema face. Some of the potential irritants are dust, pollen grains, tobacco smoke, spicy foods and animal dander. Try to avoid touching your face, if you cannot help it because you have made a habit out of it, make sure that you always carry a hand sanitizer with you.

2.) Lack of moisture in your skin is also a common culprit. Your skin has this tendency of becoming itchy because it is overly dry. Long term exposure to harsh weather conditions or heating systems and air conditioning can leave a devastating impact on your skin. In order to protect your skin from such elements, apply a moisturizing cream daily. Then again, make sure that the cream or lotion that you purchase contains natural ingredients such as vitamin E for example and does not have coloring agents or too much perfume.
